Because of this pandemic, the number of people shopping online has multiplied, and it is still rising up to this very moment. With nothing else to do, people tend to visit websites that are selling products that they usually want to buy, such as shoes, dresses, electronic devices, and many more. In this article, you will learn 3 Steps on How to Use WordPress as an eCommerce Store.
Knowing that online shopping is a trend, especially in these times, a lot of people want to get involved with it and would actually want to know how to create an E-commerce store. Well, then let me teach you how to create your very own eCommerce store by using WordPress. Let’s get started then!
1. Get a Hosting Provider and a Domain Name
Before you can create a website, it is important to have a hosting provider and a domain name first. Your domain name is what appears on the top bar of your browser, just like this:
For the hosting provider, I suggest that you use Bluehost.com because WordPress.org officially recommends them. All you have to do is go to their website, bluehost.com, fill-up the form, and you are good to go. You can also create your own domain name on the site. Think carefully on your domain name, because it is how people are going to reach your website.
After creating your account, there will be a button there which indicates “start building”. Click that button, and you will be taken to the back end of your WordPress account. After that, we begin in phase 2.
2. Install WordPress and choose a Theme
Right after you’ve chosen a Host Provider and a domain name for your eCommerce website, you will then have to secure your WordPress website. You can look it up on Youtube to know-how. Now that you are in your WordPress already, the first thing that you must do is to change the theme. The suggested theme that everyone seems to be using is the Astra theme. This theme is basically what other online store websites look like and I'm sure that it is the website that you want to follow. If you want to be unique, you can search, install, and use other themes available online.
3. Build the Website
After having your theme, you have to select a Page Builder. Try to select all and choose which one is the best. I would suggest selecting the Beaver builder. Selecting a Page Builder enables you to choose a starter website. A starter website lets you select and set the goal of your website. There are a variety of choices, and examples are garden maintenance, shoes and socks, clothes, and many more. You can select any starter website, depending on what you want to sell. For example, the goal of your website is to sell plants, then you can choose the garden maintenance as your starter website. After choosing your starter website, the rest would be up to you. You can now add your actual contents, put in your information, add some pictures, change the fonts, and customize everything according to your preference.
Now you are good to go!
You already created your website with the help of WordPress. To recap, the first step was to get a Domain and Hosting provider, next was to install your WordPress and select a theme, lastly was to select a Page Builder and a Starter Website. All you have to do now is to continue and make it more appealing. You can either create a logo, link it to a blog, create landing pages, do graphic designs, basically anything that can promote and boost your website.
